Memphis Police CounterInsurgency I
Download Podcast
Since 2012 when our group has started, we have been subjected to a campaign of surveillance and disruption by local police, including the so-called "Peace Police", nonviolent white radical groups working with the cops as pacification agents to subvert our efforts to do community organizing, especially against police brutality.
We talk about how the government has used its control of the media to "disappear" us from local public commentary. It is important to know about CounterInsurgency in this period, which is a successor to the FBI's COINTELPRO which disrupted and destroyed civil rights groups and Black Power era movements like the Black Panther Party.

What Happened To The Black Revolution and What Should Be Done Today
Download Podcast
There has always been a Black liberation movement on the North American continent from the first enslaved African revolt to the Black power movements of the fifties, sixties and seventies.
The Black liberation movements were brought to a halt through the FBI counter intelligence program also known as cointelpro. The FBI under the leadership of J Edgar Hoover used covert operations against Black revolutionary groups that are arguably going on to this day.
The FBI's stated reason for engaging in this criminal activity was "protecting national security, preventing violence, and maintaining the existing social and political order" or simply put, maintaining a system of white supremacy.
Tune tonight to Black Autonomy Federation Radio as they examine "What Happened To The Black Revolution and What Should Be Done Today".

Guests:
Dr. Bryce Davis Of Antioch University . The difference being poorer race and class indicates living in close proximity to environmental degradation, the urban grocery gap (or food deserts), lack of access to green space (exacerbates obesity), (asthma) fresh air etc. All of these factors inhibit the education of these individuals, and thereby their future occupation, social status, and access to upward social mobility. In my work, I have working to solve these problems through education. For example, providing experiential programmatic learning opportunities and sustainable career pathways through community gardens and solar energy projects in urban schools. "eco-apartheid."

Today’s show Black Youth and Campus Organizing will address the role of black youth and students in the black liberation struggle. Black youth were in the forefront of radical social change in America during the late 1960's however this period is lacking in youth led revolutionary action and consciousness.
What was the socio-political context that set the stage for the activity we saw from black youth in the past compared to now? What direction do black youth in this period need to go in to once again play a leading role in creating revolutionary change and how do we get there?
All of these questions will be explored in today’s show.

The Absence of a Radical Black Activist Movement in America
Download Podcast
It seems the mass movements being promoted by the so-called mainstream media corporations are those being led by passive leaders whom seek to get access to high places in the US government not to make real demands pertaining to the real pressing issues of Black people in America, but to elevate themselves to a place where they can benefit personally and financially with an elevated name recognition.
Those movements that have a radical Black agenda are purposely kept out of national conversations for fear that they will speak real truth to the powers that are behind the US government and its policies.

The impact of the 1971 Attica prison rebellion on today's Prison Movement
Download Podcast
The Attica Prison rebellions took place at the Attica Correctional Facility in Attica, New York in 1971. The rebellions were in response to inhumane treatment of the prisoners and horrid living conditions. The Attica rebellions were sparked by the killing of black activist George Jackson who was an inmate at San Quentin prison in California on August 21, 1971. It is estimated that about half of Attica prison's population of 2,200 inmates rebelled and seized control of the prison. Forty-two prison staff members were held by prisoners and four days of negotiations ensued. Authorities would agree to 28 of the prisoners' demands but would not agree to demands for complete amnesty from criminal prosecution for the prison takeover or for the removal of Attica's superintendent. When the uprising was over, at least 39 people were dead.

A Critical Analysis of the 1963 March on Washington
Download Podcast
The 1963 March on Washington was one of the largest public demonstrations in the history of the United States. While often described as being a mix of Black and Whites participating, observers estimated that 75–80% of the marchers were Black and the rest were non-black. The march is said to have helped pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
In 2013, the United States Supreme Court struck down Section 4(b) of the Act, which contained the coverage formula that determined which states and local jurisdictions are subject to Section 5 preclearance as unconstitutional.
Black Autonomy Federation Radio will critically analyze the historic march which took place 50 years ago on Wednesday, August 28, 1963.
